So I drove the F2T MX-3 up to do a timing belt change on my sisters '04 Mitsubishi Endeavour. I have ran into a prob as I can't get the crankshaft pulley bolt loose... tbe brother n law has a small contractor compressor that won't budge it. I've soaked it with PB Blaster, anyone happen to have or know of a crank holding tool?

If nobody has the crank holding tool, you're welcome to try my impact wrench. I have one of the "earthquake" dual piston impact wrenches from Harbor Freight and it hasn't met a crank pulley bolt it couldn't remove yet. I have a huge air compressor, but your brother in law's should run this well enough to get one bolt out. Assuming it's charged to over 100psi. Alternatively you could drive it to my house and I could loosen it for you. But I wouldn't want it coming apart on your way back!!

I used to work at a Mitsubishi dealer in Columbus. I never heard of the technicians using a tool to hold the crank but I could be wrong. If you stop by a dealer and talk to one of the techs they may be able to tell you how to get it off.

I'm at work now but my house is near Riverside Hospital, 315 and N Broadway. Probably a half hour drive from Pickerington. I should be home around 5:30p. Email me (my user id here at gmail.com) and I'll give you my phone number, address, etc.

Lots of guys have successfully used a breaker bar and the starter motor to loosen the crank bolt.

Strategically position the breaker bar to contact something very rigid like the ground, put it on the crank bolt, and bump the starter.

    3 tips.

    1. You want the timing belt ON to do this.
    2. You want to make sure its a standard rotation engine.
    3. If the bolt has a square drive on the inside and a hex on the outside, use a properly sized socket on the OUTSIDE. Many horror stories of breaking the bolt by using the square drive on the inside, then the anger that follows.

I have used an impact on the inside square part and a big wrench on the outside hex part at the same time to remove them.
