A quick search indicates that it's been a while since there was a Copart thread here.

Has anybody bought a car through them recently? I found a theft recovery that intrigues me, but the whole Copart thing is foreign to me.

Is it online only or can you go o a live auction?

Is the a good way to track the bidding like on ebay?

In reply to Woody: The bidding is live. Sale usually starts at 12 and when the car comes up you bid til it sells. You can prebid but all you're doing is driving up the price and giving someone time to out bid you. Online is the best way, even if you're at the yard you have to do it on the computer. In addition to the price of the vehicle there are fees, usually several hundred dollars or more. I've bought about 20 cars from them and good deals can be had, just don't get caught up in the bidding.

what he said plus all you can really track is the pre-bid or opening bid as a registered buyer. Once the bidding starts you can "watch" and participate through their "virtual bidding" window.

The fees can add up fast though.

Good stuff can be had, i've bought about 5 cars, one for personal use and the others to sell. Expect problems, the cars likely wouldn't be there if they were perfect.

as others have said, watch the fees - they can be 25% of the auction price - OK if you plan for that in your bidding.
