V8 Miata. V8 solstice is almost as heavy as a corvette, which I would prefer over the solstice.

V8 Saturn Sky. Much better looking imho, and NObody would see it coming.

Miata. Higher overall quality, vastly larger aftermarket, larger trunk w/ top down means longer trips, more closely resembles a Lotus Elan, more sleeper-ish due to lack of factory 260 hp versions of the Miata.

Miata. You can put the top up and down without getting out of the car. Also, the interior uses much nicer plastics. The only advantage to the solstice imho is it can handle bigger tires.

Solstice for rarity factor. I've never seen or heard of one since all the "would it fit" stories just after the Solstice was introduced. But it would need to be an LS6 or something.

I'm sure the whole car would fall apart much sooner than the Miata

LSx Saturn Sky. Because 6 liters of twin turbo fun does fit.

Corvette. Why go to the trouble of swaping an ls v8 into a solstice when you can buy a corvette with one already in it, that weighs the same.

I guess that means Miata is the answer as always unless.... e30 convertible with an LS1?

Solstice with a high carbon content. Similar to the Hot Rod project, but lighter weight.

Miata. The Solstice always struck me as being a bit "bulbous". Agree with previous posters that the Sky is prettier.

Miata. NA and NB are both more classic looking than the Skystice twins, and I like the underrated stealth factor of the old hairdresser's cars.

I'd love a monster miata, when I hear the concept I thought it was a myth but it is in fact reality.

    The solstice is ugly also.

Does anyone else think this sort of resembles a Solstice with the smooth sloping bodywork? Maybe I'm just crazy.

It's not the best picture of it, but its the Jaguar XKSS, Steve Mcqueen had a green one.

Obviously the Solstice/Sky twins as their appearance is far more attractive than the Miata. And, yes, the Corvette makes more sense than both.

are we talking similar year cars here, so NC vs solstice/sky?

Miata(early on) Preferably one that looks like a total beater... I cannot stand GM interiors or build quality. Miata's also have a useable(barely) trunk.

This is likely what ill do to mine, however, once its done its on pace to be a 3200lb car.

    Solstice/Sky

Forced induction > V8 for Miata, for me. Don't know why, being that I've never even driven a Miata.... but that's what I'd do.

I wonder how much gain/$ a Solstice/Sky in GXP/Redline would see. For a track car - sure - you would be tuning the suspension, brakes, beefing the chassis with steel, taking weight out... but how much better would a street car really be? Probably unable to put power down, melt the hood paint off from heat and require you to remove the car to change the spark plugs.

Yeah, I think with the Solstice GXP, you'd be way ahead by upgrading the turbo engine.

Solstice or Sky - much prettier and money is no object, so everything else can change.

According to the latest GRM issue the cost of someone else building you a V8 Miata can be as much as the cost of a Miata added to the cost of a Miata. However it's been done for under $2000.

Solstace, Sky, meh. For similar money I'd V-8 something like the Jag above.
