I don't flag CL ads for "Best Of Craigslist" often, but that one definitely got it.

The icing on the cake would be to paint this car some truely memorable color...besides "every other car silver". Pain it a medium shade of PINK, and your kid won't be able to go anywhere without being noticed (almost as good as a GPS unit).

Quite amusing. You just gotta love craigslist for ads like that. It makes it all worth while.

That's even better than my "rust-free Chevy vega-$250" ad 25yrs ago. The would be buyer was really pissed when he saw the totally rotted, oil burning, powerglide turd. Yeah it's rust free, no extra charge!

I'll take it. The SPI Motor is almost as powerful as a Zetec and has more usable torque down low. I would remove the hubcaps, add cheap sporty tires and install the SVT suspension kit. Lift oversteer hoonage would abound.

I had a 2000 LX setup just like that and loved that car. I killed it when I hit a deer............. crossing sign.

First car answer = first Gen Saturn.

Focus, however, makes a good alternative choice. I still want a first gen focus and put the rally fenders on it and 17 inch rims. but at that point I would be looking to get an AWD mechanism under it as well......

Although I found this very humorous.

"It has no A/C, so you’ll know he’s suffering every time you get mad at him. Pretty satisfying. It’ll bring a smile to your face too, to know he’s rolling around looking like a faggot in a Ford Focus"

    haha, that was amazing!

My kids first car will be just like mine... Whatever he can save the money for. My Dad matched 1/4 of my savings and paid insurance.

With that help I was able to pick up a 1987 CRX Si in pull me over red.

Fixed it up, sold it for profit and repeated the cycle. 9 years later that same $2k has put me into a a very nice BMW 328i with STX goodies

    Lesson learned... Good job dad!
