I drove past this Brat today. It was not there yesterday.
It was almost directly across from the tiny cabin in which Arthur Miller wrote Death of a Salesman. He owned two different farmhouses on the street.
Who knows, maybe it was Artie's...

I am perhaps atypical, but I took the opportunity to google Arthur Miller and found that he died in 2005 in Roxbury, CT, where in 1948 he wrote Death of a Salesman.
I've never been a Subaru fan--even less so after owning one of the wretched contraptions. At least it's not a garish color that would intrude upon the serenity of the wooded winter landscape. Rust in peace.

Hey, now. My boosted rotary is a joy to drive, and at nearly 25 years of age is quite reliable. The low-mileage, dealer-purchased, near new 2001 Outback wagon I bought many years back was an absolute wallowing turd with multiple mechanical issues, not the least of which were a blown head gasket and a juddery clutch. They say you only get one chance to make a first impression.

^'01s seemed to get the worst of everything. My '01 Forester also had a blown HG, crap clutch, and shoddy rear wheel bearings. The second gen Outback is an even heavier pig that exacerbated the issues.
Start over with an EJ22 Legacy, you won't be disappointed.

By the looks of that BRAT, I have two theories:
1) Some body was beating the piss out of it and the suspension came apart. I notice the lack of windshield, so who knows.
2) Someone was towing it on a tow dolly and the suspension came apart and they chose to dump it there.
More theories may come later.

I suspect that the second may be true. I drove by again today and it's gone. On the upside, I discovered that it is at the entrance to the Arthur Miller & Inge Morath Miller Preserve. I now from where tomorrow's hike will commence.
