Tonight I noticed a nasty dent on my Miata hood, a few inches long, and bad enough that the paint is cracked. What's strange is that the dent appears to be pushed outward, rather than inward.
The dent appears to line up with the front upper ridge on the valve cover. I'm not sure how much clearance there is under the hood, but do you think that it is possible that the engine could have rocked enough under load to make contact with the hood? Has anyone experienced something similar?
