With our ramp truck back on its feet, the next order of business would be figuring out exactly how we wanted to have it outfitted. Our goal was to make it completely practical and usable for our race and rally support efforts, without losing the vintage feel.

We decided the first things we needed were some bigger, better cabinets below the truck's bed to replace the shallow and rather rusty cabinets that came on the truck.

We also decided that while we were replacing the existing cabinets, we should add more behind the rear wheels. We would then blend all these cabinets into the bed of the truck with some period-correct-looking wheel wells and body siding.

Up top, we wanted a fuel jug rack, tire rack, air compressor, generator to run lights and power tools, and naturally, a functioning winch.

From there we would get a bit fancy and add features like a cooler that slides out of the truck’s body, a propane tank so we could grill out at the track, and a work bench that would mount to the side of the truck.

Wow, we have a lot of fabrication ahead of us. Let’s get started.
