Dirt track FWD racing

It's mostly Saturns in this class at my local bull ring.

hey I leave over here in Montpelier IN. and the own of the Montpelier speedway is going to let me race my 1998 eclipse rs. sic his getting ready to put the rollcage in for me. the only thing u cant run in the fwd class is awd and turbo and cant not have the ebrake in it....hey zombie woof I asked about my 1987 Nissan 300zx and I was told by the own I can run it in with the street stock itnle we get some more inports on the dirt

There is a local guy parting a 2000 Celica GT-S. Selling off everything that is not needed to become a racecar. I've been thinking of grabbing the seats and putting them in the Mini.

I see hornet cars for sale on craigslist from time to time. I always think it would be a blast to try, but I think the closest dirt track is about an hour and a half away.

My ChumpCar teammate/captain (Sporqster here) is threatening to build an M42 E30 for Chump's new class structure and WRL, so if that happens we're going to find out what the local 4cyl circle track scene is like!

Although it's not dirt or FWD, it sort of applies here.

I was planning to race in a similar class until I talked to a buddy who ran open-wheel modified asked me, "Do you want to die?" He said these classes the morons have little to lose and generally beat the hell out of each other. Makes sense to me. Really changed my mind about doing so since I have a family now.

The asphalt oval here in Indy has a hornet class, it has been a few years since I paid attention to it but back then it was SOHC cars only had to be 4 cyl, mini trucks were allowed. If they felt you were too good of a driver for the class they could force you into the bomber class (full size cars) at their discretion.

SOHC neons and saturns seemed to be the standard with a few cavaliers and sunfires thrown in.

I never got involved because of a horrible work schedule that would make being out at the track late on Friday a bear.

The drivers are mainly people who have never raced before and the kids of guys who race in the late models and modifieds. There is generally a "rubbin's racin" and lack of fear. Best thing I ever saw was a saturn end up on it's roof spinning like a top.

here in Montpelier its a d track. we run 6cyl and 4cyl in are fwd class. ppl come all over form like new York, texas, Oregon, califria

M42 e30s do quite well in the dirt, thank you very much.....so far in three seasons, mine has never been beaten by the dozen or more 6cyl e30s that have come out to try.

We had a rallycross at a dirt circle track last year where we used about half the banked oval. I didn't find the banked section particularly fun, but then again they had offset gates on it so you couldn't just hang the tail out all the way around

I took a look at the rules and 4 and 6 cylinders are allowed now. I found a few videos someone took and it seems like civics are in there a lot.

there a lot of ford probe gt up here that are running 4g64 and 4g63 motors I just start building my 4g63 for my eclipse

Sadly, no FWD here, but there's a guy locally who kills it in a 3rd gen. Celica. In Texas, Wayne used to regularly whip up on 4 cyl Mustangs and Pintos in a 1st gen crx.

That would be boring as hell though, have you ever seen one of these races? They're great fun to watch, on a paved short track there's as much exhaust smoke as there is tire smoke(and quite a bit of both), very close racing.

In the car or in the pits? You aren't really going fast enough on a 1/4 mile oval to get hurt in a properly caged car(probably more likely to die towing the car to the track). The white trash concentration however, can be high.

Kenny_mccormic have u ever been to Montpelier speedway bc this 1/4 track we can get to high 90 low 100 in all class sic its not in oval its what everyone calls a d track its more how Indianapolis speedway is for the one that don't now what a d track is

Indianapolis is a rectangle. Many 1.5 mile tracks are D shaped.

Montpelier track is the same shape as Indianapolis. but its a 1/4 dirt and its its a d they way we hit high speed paired to other dirt tracks.

Not a chance they'll hit 100 MPH on a track like that.

I did say in the fwd class ethere in the street class we've had them clock at 105mph by are local pd

Keep in mind that a lot of these classes have a $1500 claimer rule or something to that effect, so your ideas to get some obscure overdog have already been accounted for.

The races aren't really races, more demolition derbies where everyone is (usually) going the same direction.

That being said, 1st gen neon is the car to have. Strongest power, light, balanced, relatively wide and low, easy to find and build under the claimer rule $.
