I think the early 1.8t motors were 16 valve...and later they all became 20v? Though I am not completely sure. If you mean the earlier engines, like in the A2, then the answer is no.

Just the newer 2.0t. None other, unless there were late Callaway cars and if you can consider those that "factory".

No, but there are plenty of cheap and easy ways to turbo a 16v. All the 1.8t's were 20v. The new 2.0t is 16v, but a different animal.
A new turbo manifold is $67 on ebay, put a T fitting under the oil pressure sender to feed the turbo, and stack 2 ABA headgaskets and you've got a turbo engine. BTW, there are 2 2.0L 16v's and 1 1.8L 16v at the local U-Pull right now.

You mean local to me?
What turbo manifolds fit on the 16V? Are the 1.8T manifolds the same bolt/ port pattern as the 16V?

I meant local for me, but if you came up to visit, you wouldn't just be going after parts so no travel expenses on the budget! The only stock turbo mani that fits the 16v head is the Audi 200tq/S4 manifold, but it has an extra cylinder. The cheapest options are to make your own or buy the cheap one on ebay for $67. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-1-8-2-0-16V-CAST-TURBO-MANIFOLD-T3-92-99-JETTA-G...

I always thought a dumb VW question was "Does the CEL ever shut off?"
