An electric water pump will probably be part of the next evolution of the cooling system in my RX7. The ability to maximize low speed cooling and avoid separation/cavitation at high speed are the most desirable benefits. Another benefit is the ability to remote-mount the compressor with some designs (e.g. Davies Craig). For me this would clear up the front of the engine significantly and allow me to duct the radiator through the hood vent.

You will also be able to use a decent sized trigger wheel behind the crank pulley without the water pump housing in the way.

 

I have the 3" crank pulley to keep the water pump working at high RPM.  Consequence: I crank the idle speed up to 1500-1800 in competition so the engine gets some amount of water flow at idle in grid.
