    Hey All,

I am preparing a 1999 Ford Windstar SE van for sale and the front power windows don't work. Fuses are good. I checked all the switches with a VOM and they're OK. The passenger side window does not work when I push the passenger side switch or the "master control" switch.

I noticed a relay click when using the driver side switch. It emanates from ECM # XF2T-13C788-AA located against the firewall in the driver's footwell. The sound changes when I press my hand against the housing. The passenger side switches elicit no such noise and are dead silent.

No I have not pulled the door panels and checked the motors. Those things are pretty robust so unless you guys know they're more likely to go simultaneously than anything else, I'll do it and test them.

    Any thoughts on the problem?

I just replaced the passenger side motor/regulator assembly on my 2000 Windstar last weekend. A bit of a PITA grinding off the rivets but otherwise not too bad. I pulled the door panel prior and checked for power at the plug when operating the switches. I got the motor & regulator assembly (can't get just the motor) from TeamFordParts.com which was cheaper than buying locally even when factoring in the return shipping for the core ($30 charge).

Well, since you had the problem, it looks like I'll at least take off the door panels and test for voltage at the motor. I can't believe both motors would croak at the same time.
