What all organizations out ther have some form of endurance racing?

I know chump and Lemons at one end, ALMS on the other, what else is in between? Have you ever done events with any? I have heard about World Racing League, and a week or two ago I swear there was a thread on here about another organization starting up but I can't find it.

Is it possible to use the same car in multiple series? Not necessarily looking to be competitive, just be allowed on the track.

Chumpcar has an EC class for running cars that are far more valuable/modified that what is typically allowed within the rules. If you ended up with something built for a higher-profile series, you could probably still run with Chumpcar under this category. It would have to be production-based, I think, and run 200+ treadwear tires. Also, the tech staff would have to agree that it wasn't so ridiculously fast that it would pose a danger on track.

High Plains Raceway relatively near you East of Denver has two or three hour endurance races from time to time.

SCCA and NASA sponsor endurance races for regular racers. At least they do in my region. You can typically find 3 to 6 hour enduros.

AER is new this year. Looks good so far.

http://www.americanenduranceracing.com/

AER wrote American Endurance Racing: A lot of track time. The best tracks. Minimum car prep rules. Reasonable costs. “Race what ya got” 1.Car eligibility: Any production-based racecar built to compete in sanctioned road racing with the SCCA, NASA, BMW CCA, PCA, PBOC or similar governing bodies OR class A LeMons/Chump cars. 2.Tires: All cars will use DOT approved street tires with a minimum treadwear of 180. 3.Driver eligibility: Drivers must have, or have had, a racing license with the above governing bodies OR have competed in five LeMons/Chump races 4.Qualifying: Fridays will always be included with the entry fee and be open for practice and qualifying. Each teams fastest Friday time will be used to assign that car’s class. 5.Class Assignments: After Qualifying, on Friday night, AER will group cars with similar lap times in classes with a goal of 3-5 classes depending on the size of the field. Cars will display class identifying markings (provided by AER) to distinguish classes. 6.Racing: There will be a rolling start on Saturday with cars in their qualifying order. For 2 day races there will be a rolling start on Sunday with cars in their finishing order from Saturday. 7.Stints/Stops: Race lengths will be in multiples of 90 minutes. The minimum number of stops will be set by dividing the race length (in minutes) by 90 and subtracting 1. (for a 9 hour race 540/90-1=5 stops). All stops will be for a minimum of 3 minutes (from the time the car enters the hot pit to the time it exits the hot pit). These are individual stops, sitting in the hot pit for 6 minutes is still 1 stop. 8.Sandbagging: Lap times will be monitored during racing and any team that runs faster than their qualifying time will be subject to being moved up a class or lap penalties. 9.Awards: Awards will be presented to the drivers with the best qualifying time in each class as well as the top 3 teams in each class.

Our "team" just finished 2nd overall about 50 seconds out of 1st at the Glen without me this past weekend (this work thing really sucks). Everyone was pretty happy with the way the event was run and we are going to gear up for the full season next year if it looks like they (AER) will be able to make a go of it again.

The series needs participants - so everyone go race with them now!
