Besides these:

http://www.build-threads.com/tag/mr/,

http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1266033,

http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/730443-newbie-ls1-but-not-your-typical-car.html, are there any more build threads outlining taking a FWD car and converting it to MR.

The reason I as is there are several cars which I think would be incredible for this. Think of all the cars people steal FWD drive-trains from to slap into a cheap MR chassis like the Fierro, MR2/S. Instead of swapping them specifically into these chassis what if people simply moved the setup back in the same car. The ones I'm seeing are mostly Hondas. What about a MR Cadillac Eldorado (think 90s), Ford Probe Turbo?, Hell an XR4Ti would be a good candidate given the hatch and how much rear space there is. These are the things I'm thinking of.

Another consideration would be conversion from FWD to FR on a newer car...

Please feed my need...

For a long time I kept a '89 Civic si parts car around, thinking some day I'd take a portion of the front clip, with the drivetrain, and graft it into the rear, making a mid-engined Civic. Sadly, I never got around to it. I did build a mid engined model A truck once.

It made me notice that I am not currently building anything epic. I will have to step up my game after this racing season... maybe build something completely bonkers to race for '13/'14.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but this mkII golf is one of the nicest mid engined conversions I've seen: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3277830-Golf-mk2-16vT-Mid-Engine-RWD-Race-car-build

Sport Compact Car featured an Integra that had been converted to MR. The conversion was done by an engineer, who had calculations for just about everything he was doing. The car handled amazing, but was somewhat under-powered. I believe that was remedied through forced-induction.

I always wanted to get a Chevy Sprint Turbo or even a Geo Metro and put the engine in the back. LOL Think it'd be a fun car to tool around in. Hell, a Mitsu Mirage with a 4G63 in the back would be super fun!!! There was a guy local who had one with the 4G63 up front with a big turbo and it just friggin hauled ass!!

Ok

This is mine.

http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?56821-Mid-Engine-Charger...

It is an 85 Shelby Charger.. Converted/ing to MR using a Daytona subframe with a Chrysler/Maserati 16v powerplant. All of this with a challenge budget in mind.

Currently mine has stalled a bit due to work stuff going really well.. and a set of twins (now 2 years old).

The Midlana comes to mind for inspiration and ideas..

This one was at a GRM challenge I think..

ideas in this thread

And yet more ideas here

Or?

Shall I continue?

I don't know much.. But I have been studying this one for a while.. In fact.. My car is probably suffering right now from a 'Paralysis of Analysis'

Oh.. and out of everything posted.. That integra is the 'best' of the bunch IMO opinion by far... Lack of power is by far the easiest thing to 'fix' as far as these types of projects go.. I hate hondas in general.. just because.. but I LOVE that car/build... It is very well thought out and carefully and thoughtfully built.. Love it..

Although.. that mid engine golf above... somehow I missed that one to date.. Liking that a alot...

I always thought a neon would make a good candidate for a RWD conversion.

I clearly should not mention the fact that I'm considering a wild left turn from my original challenge car. I know where I can get a Festiva shell for the price of a plate of wings, And I already have an f2t....... thank god I have no room or skill for fabrication.

What in the.....

In fact, Mosler's car wears two distinctly different engines. The one up front is a 275-hp Northstar like that found in the base Eldo, and the one in back is the 300-hp unit that comes in an ETC. The rear engine has a higher redline and uses lower gear ratios, so the engines shift at different times as the car accelerates.

The thought of a RWD conversion makes me think a lot more about some of the pretty FWD cars that I don't like specifically because they're FWD. Unfortunately, this kind of work is way beyond my capabilities.

And yes, that MR Integra conversion was all kinds of awesome.
