Given the investment that the owners of the upcoming track in Texas have made I'd find this highly unlikely to happen. I'm sure they have contractually locked up F1 in the US for several years...

I still don't understand why a country can't have more than one race. I remember the rumor years ago that Europe would lose all but one of it's GPs because they were joining the EU, becoming "one country." As big as the US is, and with as many people that live here, would two GPs hurt? Though geographically, it does seem close the the Canadian GP (cue someone showing me that most of the tracks in Europe have less distance between them).

No it wouldn't hurt, but I very much doubt there's the market here for more than 1 F1 race...

Let's face it, American's aren't all that into open car racing, as Indy Car is finding out.

Making matters worse for F1 is there are NO americans racing in that series...

F1 is one of those things where everything is 100% sure right up until it does not happen. It must be written in the bylaws that everyone must think and act like saying something a million times makes it true.

From my vast experience watching actual F1 results my thinking is that Austin is still really "iffy" and a NJ GP has the same shot as the 2010 USGP race team did.

Interesting. I'm familiar with the Weehawken area of the proposed course. I would have never dreamed up turning the area into a race course, but thinking about it, it would be interesting. If the uphill section described is the one I'm thinking about, it would definitely be challenging.

Given how close it is to me, I do hope it happens. Especially since there is actually a slim chance I could attend since there is relatively easy rail access to the venue.
