Ferrari's are always sexy and unobtainable, but that never bothered me. What am I going to do with an Enzo that needs a $6K oil change? The chunky 80's styling of the 348 was enough for me to leave it to the rich and clueless. And with the exception of the halo cars, a Porsche Turbo usually outperforms the "base" Ferrari and is easier to live with. I could sleep at night knowing that I will never afford a Ferrari because I could come up with some excuse why they weren't that great anyway.

But I cannot find a chink in the 458's armor. Sexiest Ferrari in years, MASSIVE leap in power and performance over the F430, and the ride is decent and it has a big front trunk. Can someone explain how the Ponzi scheme thing works again?

Lack of true manual shift option is enough for me to not even give it a second though

Hahaha there is a Fire Extinguisher option in the configurator!

That's kinda cool actually. Meant to be raced.

JC ( jeremy clarkson, not that other guy) had much nice to say about it. Says that May's 430 was a waste in comparison.

They need a better fire extinguisher than that even just to drive daily. Im sorry, but that many engine fires in an expensive car is unacceptable.

Sooo... Do the lucky ones actually get to own what they pay for?
Or do they get to pretend to own the car whenever the factory pretends to feel like letting them have the keys for a weekend?

They cheat in F1, and they now seem to cheat the millionaires out of their Road car purchases.

    Fantastic piece of kit though.

A friend of mine was a Ferrari mechanic for about a year and a half for a new dealership that opened up (has since gone back to the upper-end luxury car market). They sent him to the Ferrari Factory for training. He was VERY suprised to find out that hardly anyone working in the factory anymore is Italian. It's mostly workers from other countries that do the same work for a lot less money.

Seems like Ferrari is starting to be run by bean counters, and it's affecting the quality of their cars.

And today Jalopnik reports a recall on 458 fire issues. It appears there is a fuel return overflow bottle and fuel line placed too close to the engine, causing the possibility of fire.

I wondered what they are doing about all the ones that burned already? Just opps, sorry, maybe the next one will be better? Or give them a new one?
