2009 was my first year being somewhat active in my SCCA region and doing so exposed me to cars and ideas I had never considered or knew of. One of these is the F-500 racer, also known as F-Mod in auto-x. Open wheel Formula car; 2-stroke snow mobile engine and CVT transmission. Relatively simple and cheap to both buy and operate (I swear my mtn bike has a more sophisticated suspension...). Looking at the dimensions, I could probably rig something up to haul one in the bed of my pick-up...

We have a few of these in our region, and possibly a couple more next season. For example, the current 2009 F-Mod Solo Champion drives at our events. Additionally, another member runs a car in regional club races. All this being so, my knowledge of the cars comes from somewhat biased opinions.

So I post here looking for more thoughts and opinions. Anyone run one? Love it? Hate it?

Havent run one, but have been watching intently and plan to get one when i finish school.

In club racing there is a movement that is underway to replace the 2 stroke CVT with 600cc sportbike motors (restrictor). Makes the class very interesting and has already been made a provisional and with the support its looking like it might pass. It will be interesting to see how it filters to solo2 if/when it passes.

as far as info, http://eformulacarnews.com/forum.php seems to be the online hub for the class (scroll down and theres a F500 section)

early test vid of a F600 (moto powered) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-VrTjgN4yU its got me tingly in all the right places
