Guys, give me your opinions, experiences and even your negatives.

I'm not ready yet, but in a year or so I might be able to afford something like this, I love the looks and am a hard core V8 guy. It will be a street cruiser for my wife and I.

It should be the closest thing to a Supercar I can afford and still be a part of the construction.

i really would love one, but since a c5 vette can be had so cheap these days i fail to see the draw of buying one for parts then tacking on 20 grand for a kit car and then having to build it.

I saw one run at the 25 Hours in 2007 but hesitate to draw any conclusions since it had been heavily modified. As in, converted to center-seating. Wow! It was cool, though, and I rooted for it.

The fact they can be had so cheap IS the draw. This is quite a bit different than just buying a C5. One mid engine, two the weight loss.

And 3, some people don't want to own a corvette, like myself. That right there has a large appeal.

I would prefer one over a vette 10x over. Beautiful. Realistically it will cost 40+ by the time you are finished but sure seems worth it.

Just over half the cost of a 08 Z06.....or close to a 335i

There's also a handy $2,000 off coupon on the web site! That's enough to put a good dent in the transmission's price (from the FAQs):

What type of transmission does the GTM use? The transmission is a G50 from a 1990-1998 Porsche 911. On average, you can purchase a used G50 for roughly $2,500 - $3,000.

If you have the scratch, Aussie, go for it! The GTM is gorgeous and you'll be sucking the headlights off of damn near everything on the track.

That was funny.

The GTM looks to be an unbelievable bang for the buck. I have always dreamed of the GTM or an Ultima build.

For the price of this, go a bit bigger and build yourself an Ultima GTR, no comparison, not much more expensive...

Less cabin space, not as cool looking, going to share it with my wife, the GTR may be faster but not going to do what I want of it, thanks for the idea though
