    It's a Trans-am.

    http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/22/europes-fastest-street-legal-car-is-a-252-mph-p...

None of the other records (like the Veyron) are official because they used their own testing/timing equipment and not that of a sanctioning body.

Check out the video in the article. The car is a masterpiece, the engine is ridiculous, the speed is stunning and the driver/owner's hair is out of an A-Ha video.

Take on me, indeed. Back to you, Tim.

That's awesome! Not the car would have chosen but for some reason I'm really glad they chose it.

That's the first thing I noticed when I clicked the link. It looks great with some updates.

Considering a stock bodied Trans Am already went 300+ mph at Bonneville, I'd say it was the right car to choose.

In '87 a stock bodied '88 Trans Am GTA with a twin turbo Gale banks engine set a record of 268 mph at Bonneville, in a street legal car. In '99, Jerry Kugel's stock bodied '92 Trans Am went 300.7 mph. Some say that the 3rd gen Trans Am is one of the most aerodynamic (and aerodynamically stable) bodies ever.

I loved the fact that they dropped the jaws of the AMG engineers. What a bunch of pricks, how about you guys engineer something that won't break down before you go trashing another group's work.

I like on the Norwegian page in the stats part: "407.134 km/t rekord fart"

I want a 407 Kilometer per hour fart myself.

And this is one more reason I want one, And if you can find the Gail Banks body kit... that thing is amazing, I had seen it in an issue of Car Craft a few years ago, but was not able to find it on the GB web site

edit I want the specs on the 8.9L V8 (540c.i. BBC?)
