A common kit, The guy I bought my Sonett from ( in MI ) set it aside to make 240Z's into faux Ferraris. At a quick glance or from > 100 feet , one could not tell the difference

I love those Modena Spyder kits! I wanted to be a dealer for them back in the '80s when I was a dealer for Exotic Coachcrafts' Daytona Spyder replica. The Daytona Spyder was the one built in a Corvette chassis, while the Modena was a custom frame with Ford running gear.
I built a few of these, but this one was mine from '85-88. Quicker than an original Daytona to about 120 or so:

Thought Cameron drove (well, attempted to start) a SAAB? Either a 99 or a VERY early 900...
Edit: Never mind, I was wrong all these years... Strikingly similar profiles if you ask me...

Thanks so much for the info, aircooled. Van Der Rohe was a biggie.
I guess that house is indeed my speed. Great stuff.

The 3 250GTs seen in Ferris Bueller were built by George Barris in LA. One had no engine (the one that went through the window), one had a lawnmower engine which was only used to go from the front driveway back to the pavilion (cut from the film) and the third was a rebodied Corvette that was used in the downtown Chicago scenes. This version shows up in the pages of the DuPont Registry every so often. Enzo Ferrari sent a Cease and Desist letter to Barris who had no plans to produce additional versions for the kit car industry anyway. Because the 250 that went through the window (catapulted by a winch) was no more than a shell it wasn't damaged when it hit the ravine floor 35 feet below so the crew beat on it and lit smoke pots for the "You killed the car!!!" scene. Incidentally, the original plan was to use sugar glass to replace the original thermopane. Cranes with suction cups gingerly removed the original glass replacing it with the fake but Hughes didn't like the tint and hired the pavilion's architect, David Haid, to give his blessing to crashing through the real window...which they did. There were seven cameras filming the scene as this was their money shot and could really only be filmed once. The car flew out of frame for all but one of the cameras. The site was chosen when Hughes, who lived in Northbrook, IL at the time (near the site's Highland Park), drove over the bridge adjacent to the property and saw the pavilion hanging over the ravine. He stopped and introduced himself to Ben and Fran Rose, the owners. Ben had built the pavilion in 1975 to house his car collection which featured pre-war, separate fender roadsters with racing provenance, amongst them Bugattis, Alphas and others.

Didn't George Barris do that one too? (At least the further mods for the TV show)

The "bumper line" on the doors were lower on the doors on the early 5 series.
And on the Saab 99 the little vent is lower then the bottom of the windows
What kind of Alfa does it look like?

Yup, not based on the Futura but actually IS the Futura.
It's one of the cars Barris' shop actually DID build, considering he's "claiming" so many cars that he didn't build lately.
