I really wish that listing had a plan of the house. I'm having trouble stitching all of that together in my head.

The big problem, of course, is that garage is only made for the sort of cars you never work on. I suppose a pristine Snap-On box would sort of fit in there, but actual tools would wreck the aesthetic.

So would a big puddle of gear oil.

The 3 250GTs seen in Ferris Bueller were built by George Barris in LA. One had no engine (the one that went through the window), one had a lawnmower engine which was only used to go from the front driveway back to the pavilion (cut from the film) and the third was a rebodied Corvette that was used in the downtown Chicago scenes. This version shows up in the pages of the DuPont Registry every so often. Enzo Ferrari sent a Cease and Desist letter to Barris who had no plans to produce additional versions for the kit car industry anyway.

Sounds like Barris is trying to take credit for someone else's work.

Mark Goyette built the cars, out of his Modena Design and Development company, and teh car had a custom frame witha Ford engine. NONE of the cars were Corvette rebodies (the Corvette rebodies were, as I indicated earlier, the Daytona Spider replicas used in Miami Vice, SpeedZone, and in one of the final episodes of Max Headroom).

Here's a great set of close-up pictures of a similar Modena Spyder.

It would be so cool to buy the house & fill the garage with rusty Festivas & Metros....

The house is currently for sale... http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/370-Beech-Street_Highland-Park_IL...

And the original Modena molds were sold to Precision Engineering who made the Cal Spyder. It has since been sold and redesigned by Dr. Rennuci, retired World Class Chassis engineer and he now sells kits & turnkeys.
