It is at a Honda dealership. How does that scam work???

I try to never drive my dream cars. They always massively disappoint me and leave me disillusioned.

The Elise is kind of a neat car to look at, but I know someone who has one, and he mentioned all of the interesting ventilation problems it has (hot air from radiator blows directly into cockpit) and the steering rack problems (lifespan: 2k-8k miles) and apparently the master cylinder/booster assembly were lifted straight from a Golf, meaning that the pedal feel and travel were horrible, which is why his car was all apart while he and a friend fabbed up a dual master box...

OTOH, it's probably worth it if he's willing to go to those lengths to re-engineer a new car.

I drove my student's 06 Lotus Elise at a PDX last weekend. It was a gorgeous maroon colour, awsome black/tan interior.

Saw that one but I was more taken by the Chrome Orange one. Shown here being chased by my friends supercharged Focus

I was offered a test drive in one but didn't take it. Stupid move on my part. I don't have a long dream car list but that one is definitely on the top of it. IMHO, its how a sporty car should be built (i.e. has a real manual transmission, not loaded up w/ a nav system, etc).

I guess that I'm in the minority, but I never liked the Chrome Orange.

A few years ago, I went to the local Lotus dealer just to sit in one and see how I fit inside it, just to be sure that it was a viable dream. The car that he had in the showroom was a two year old leftover, that, in retrospect was a real bargain, but I just didn't have that much cash anyway. It was BRG with Oxblood interior, which is my favorite combo for those cars.

If the value of the Elise ever drops near the fairly stable level of my 911, I suspect that I would make the switch.
