I have yet to drive the car in anger with the panels bolted in place so I'm not sure how hot they're going to get. I'm open to any suggestions for sound/heat insulation.
Yes, hand tapped holes... my grip strength increased by a factor of two over the weekend 
There was a brief and destructive experiment using the drill to run the tap. Next time I'll buy a proper tap.
