    Damn you craigslist. Damn you.

I'm looking through Montana's list as I have family out there and no work tomorrow. What do I find?

    1980 Celica GT

For $300! All it needs is a 20R. This is a hard one to say no to.

OOO! Looks like a dry keeper. I'll take the FSJ and four door GM truck(dually, too?) in the background too, please.

Neat little car. I built one for autocross back in college. It was neat but my friend rolled it almost immediately. Fun chassis but the power steering was the worst I've ever felt in a car (some trucks were worse).

Montana has a surprising good climate for cars. The eastern half tends to quite dry and cold.

Hahaha wow. My first car was a 1980 Celica GT hatchback. My parents bought it brand new in 1980 and I was "awarded" it when I turned 16 (in 1997). By that time, the maroon paint had turned into a wonderful turd brown and the interior was a mixture of cracked plastic and drooping vinyl (mom used to bathe the interior with Armor All). It didn't have power anything (but had tilt steering!) or A/C. But it was a 5 speed and was nearly impossible to kill. The original radiator was starting to become plugged up, so it ran a little hot in the summer. With some studded snows, it was a tank in snow. It suffered some body damage when my dad backed into it with his truck so the hatch like to collect water when it rained. I broke the original muffler off leaving a steep parking lot entrance and never bothered to replace it. I drove it until 2001 when I entered the military. My dad drove it to work on a regular basis when gas prices skyrocketed until he sold it to a buddy in 2008 for $350. I was a little sad to hear it had left the family. I still think about that car from time to time. I have memories as far back as sitting in the back in my car seat, next to my younger sister, all the way to driving it to the recruiter's office in 2001.

So yeah, I have a soft spot for MKII Celicas...

    Screw a bunch of 20R...

That thing needs either an 18RG if you want that old school flava, or a Supra motor or a BEAMS 3sge if you want to get interesting.

Me too. Glad it isn't closer.

I've wanted one of these off and on since they were new. And this one is a decent color, aside from the tacky "targa" band.

$300? Wish it was a bit closer. I can imagine that "shell" selling for at least $800-$900 somewhere's else.
