Saw this on Sears.com and I really don't understand the use for something like this:

Craftsman 1945 Collectible 22k Gold-Plated Ratchet Individually serialized collectible ratchet comes in a handsomely engraved walnut display box.

The 22ct gold-plated Individually serialized collectible ratchet should be used to bludgeon anyone who buys a 22ct gold-plated Individually serialized collectible ratchet.

... and mine are in fine shape and require no such item, thank you very much.

The blue titaniums and the other funky colors aren't any better. I'll be damned if I'll pay extra for a fancy coating which adds NO utility to a tool.

Since the box says 2005 limited edition, I'd guess they haven't been big sellers.

I could see it as maybe a retirement gift or something, but that's about it.

On a semi related note, my father-in-law found two 80th anniversary Craftsman bottle openers in the clearance bin at our Sears and bought us each one.

Craftsman Cap Wrench (The other sid has the Craftsman logos.)

I used mine to promptly open a Guinness. It's pretty cool but I'd never have bought it for myself for more than a buck or two. It's very heavy and could be used for a small club as well.

Only 30 Bucks? Man, if only they'd stick some diamonds on that sucker. They're totally forgetting to sell grillz with it, they'll never sell!

If I melt the gold off of it, can I take it back and get a new one, no questions asked?
