My 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty, The Gov't Mule was a former Ohio Dept of Transportation truck that I bought, salvage, after it had been rear ended.  IT has been a great truck and is great at doing truck-stuff.  Gov't maintained and still in service when it was totaled out.  I have added only 10k miles in the 2.5 yrs that I have had it and it has needed nothing more than just a battery during my ownership.

However, when I got it the seat was worn.  Likely lots of in-and-out over the 140k miles it had before I bought it.  The seat has only gotten worse.  Presently:

This leads me to my title question...
I have looked on car-part.com as well as CL/FB and I can not find a replacement seat.  Most F250 seats are in the same condition.

Does the F150 seat fit in the F250?  If yes, what years of F150 fit the '99-'08 Super Duty?

For it to be an easy bolt in affair the floor pan generally needs to be the same; I think?

If the floors are different and the bases are therefore different, can a F150 seat be mounted to my F250 base?

Adding further confusion to this the F250 single cab, which I have, the seat belt is mounted into the B-pillar.  The extended cab versions have the seat belts built into the seat since the B-pillar is not structural.  Then, the 4 doors have the seat belt back to the B-pillar.

So, who has intimate knowledge of F150/F250 seating?

My goal is that for $100 or less I can swap in a much nicer, JY or CL/FB sourced seat.

My interior is gray.  I'd mostly prefer gray but I'm fine with the idea of the fabrics not matching.

My seat is the 40/20/40 configuration.  Non-power.   I really only need the driver's side.

I know that for my generation (9th Gen) the mounts are the same across all of them.  I also know that a friend of mine with a '94 took a (I think) '01 F250 seat and was able to bolt it into his truck with very minor modifications.

I believe you should be able to find something to fit in anything in the F series.  Year, no clue.

The previous generation to yours (92-97), F150, 250 and 350 shared the basic body, so there's lots of parts interchange.  You would probably need a seat from a same generation F250/350 for a bolt-in solution, but it shouldn't be too hard to adapt something from another truck.

I can say that you're unlikely to find a decent seat for $100... those deals are pretty rare these days.  I recently swapped newer seats into my '92 Bronco, ending up with '12 Ram 1500 seats after a long search.  Most of the nice F series seats I saw for sale were north of $500, but most were higher trim level seats.  Hard to find a 'work truck' trim seat of that vintage that isn't well worn.

Maybe see what a local upholstery shop would charge to either patch it or redo the whole seat?

If I hadn't retired I could probably get you all the answers on tracks and seat frame structure. I'm pretty sure the company I used  to work for had the Ford supply contract in 2006. I'll see if any of my FB friends may know.

Generically,I would expect F150 and F250 seating of the same generation to be bolt -in swaps. The extended cab seats will have a thicker back structure and may reduce your leg room. I'd stick to a non-integrated seat. If that were my truck I'd just remove the seat cover and repair the damage unless improved comfort were a requirement. Is the seat cushion upholstery close to symmetrical? You might be able to find a passenger seat and swap the seat cover, or better still, the cover and the foam.

ford-trucks.com

This forum has a vintage ford section that has discussed this in detail.  I don't think switching seats between series is that easy.  It can be done but each successive series got bigger and so did the seats.

I've lightly researched seat swaps for the Super Duty for my Excursion.  You think the cloth seats wear poorly, the leather ones just seem to come apart.  I believe that everything I've seen says that the F150 seats are narrower than the Super Dooty ones. so they don't quite line up.  Nothing you couldn't fix with a step-bit and some planning, but I don't think they'd be bolt-in.

Thanks for the chime in.  I'll admit, I had you in mind and the potential of an answer from you when I wrote this posting.  Ha.

Also, thanks for the link to a Ford Truck Forum.  That was going to be my next question and you gave me the answer before I had to ask. Ha.

Funny thing. As I was reading your post of expecting a $500 answer I wondered why your expectation was so different than mine.  I then clicked your location and see that you're in AZ.  Yeah, for your world, you would be right.  But, I am 1 hr from Cleveland, OH and you are greatly underestimating The Rust Belt where our truck bodies rust out faster than the interiors wear out.

Rule of thumb:  Go south/west for sheet metal.  Go north/east for interiors and plastic.  We don't have the harsh sun damage either.

Junkyard 2 hours away asking $150 for 1 piece:

CL ad from 3.5 hours away asking $100 for the 3 piece set:

CL ad 1.5 hrs away asking $500 for 5 piece set.

That $100 set looks nice but then means a nearly 8 hour commitment to go get it.

I should probably act on the $150 which is 2 hr away but I was hoping for cheaper and closer.

That's a good point.  I didn't shop CL or Failbook nationwide due to transportation/shipping issues.  On eBay, everything was expensive, or had expensive shipping.  I ended up getting my Ram seats out of Florida off eBay.  Seats were a good price, but the shipping cost as much as the seats...LOL.  They were literally "like new", though, so I was satisfied with the deal.

This is going to be worth a call and sending the picture to a local trim shop.  I had my old Suburban leather seat repaired and once it was done for the cost I kicked myself for not doing it much earlier.

I'm a fan of the treasure hunt, too, but the rest of that seat you have looks so nice and you already know its smell.

I can't say specifically yes or no on the fit, but I do know that Ford seats are pretty universal.  Up through the mid 90s anyway, they used a relatively universal, ford-specific pattern on the seats and used different rails to get them to match the floor.

For instance, lots of Ranger guys hate their stock seats, so they'll use Merkur, Escort, or Mustang seats and they bolt up to the Ranger rails.

Have you thought about a seat cover? I love mine–better than any factory upholstery and they ship it to your house.

I like the covers, 'cept...

Not easy to see in the photo but my seat has also lost most of the lower bolster foam. Without the proper sized foam, I'd have a heck of a time keeping the cover fitting correctly.

Then, down that rabbit hole leads to sites like this where new bottom foam is about $125 and new bottom cloth is $125. That then means $250-ish gets me half a new seat. Into the $500 range for a whole seat.  And, that's just parts. I'd still have to build it.

The F150 seats don't fit and people think ones with no damage are worth a LOT. Best bet is yard hunting vs CL/FB unless you can throw money at it. We have a local Powerstroke group/classifieds that is fairly reasonable and got my split seat (identical to your stocker) for $150. I have seen King Ranch ones go for 1500.

Get yourself another passenger seat, swap the foam and fabric to your drivers seat.  Boom - done.

From the pics it looks like it should work with minimal struggle, I swapped seat bottoms on my Dodge Ram and it was a direct swap.

Yeah, Ebay listing of complete King Ranch seating asking $3,650 and that gets you a worn seat!

For being the high end stuff, the King Ranch interiors don't seem to age well.

All automotive seating is produced to a target price and that price is surprisingly low. The prices you quoted for a cover and foam are ten times what Ford would have paid for the stuff that's in the truck now.

The blue and the red Limited f150 seats do that as well.

Meanwhile my excursion seats look like a dog got trapped up front and ate the seats from starvation. Replacements are rare or expensive or both.

This was my thought as well, and car-part.com shows several grey cloth options in your target price range

That is a good idea on the pass to drivers swap. Done that with car seats, and I forget these are actual buckets.
