That will make a grid with 6 World Champions, if I counted right.

    1. Vettel
    2. Button
    3. Hamilton
    4. Alonso
    5. Raikonnen
    6. Schumacher

    Yeah, that would be six.

Just over 100 days before the next grand prix...

(Luckily we at least have Daytona and Sebring in there to keep us busy!)

And the first WRC of 2012 in just about 4 weeks, IIRC.

With Solberg back in a factory Ford!

Those Mercedes W03 looks pretty fast... McLaren across the front row

    Ferrari's mid field

I'm still trying to recover after watching live qualifying. Sebring, yard work and a couple of adorable stray animals have kept me pre-occupied.

It's way too early for predictions, but I like seeing a Macca 1-2 at the front even if Button is my preferred driver. Nice to see Grosjean do so well, not so much for Kimi and some bad strategy. Mercedes may do well in the race; the jury's still out on that one. Red Bull is off to a slow start but it might be fun to see if Webber and Vettel can move towards the podium.

Ferrar - not a fan so I'm pretty ambivalent on their performance. Alonso seemed PO'd enough (when he spun off) to do something excitingly stupid in an effort to make-up ground.

Ironically, the stray pup (Chichuaha/Dachsund mix) and the tabby cat are both shades of red and deserve the name "Enzo".

    Must. Resist. Temptation.

I want a Fiesta like that one not to mention a fraction of Petter's skill behind the wheel.

Ok, technically, I do have a fraction of his skill, a very small fraction. I mean to say I'd like a larger fraction.

    How do you live?

And if by some chance you should continue to "exist" anyway, they quality of your life can't be great. There are ways around Speed, but DVR is "da bomb". It makes TV bearable and your life sooooo easy!

Watch what you want, when you want and skip all the annoying commercials!

Is there a DVR app for the XBOX 360? Or a cheap add-on one?

We have the most basic cable because the next one up is $100 more per month, so no SPEED. ESPN3 covers all the ALMS action. I don't watch much TV anyways (besides NFL) and I have Netflix, so I don't miss much.

For those with DVR, spoiler warning! I stayed up and watched it live with some friends.

A little bit of shuffling around amongst the fast guys last night. It looks like the fast guys are still the fast guys, though. The parity between Red Bull and McLaren bodes well for the quality of racing this year.

I wonder if Fernando took his unibrow home and cried himself to sleep? I'll wager Maldonado wants to hang himself...

Okay, look, I KNOW they're race drivers and always want to pass the guy in front, but why don't these guys EVER say to themselves, "You know, Self, you're on pace to get the best result this team has had in three or four years... Is getting one or two less points really worth trashing the car and getting NO points with only half a lap to go?"

  • oldsaw

    March 18, 2012 11:37 a.m. oldsaw PowerDork

    In reply to stroker:

Maldonado claims he wasn't attempting a pass and had accepted he couldn't advance a position; he just lost control at really bad moment.

That might be true as the first twelve cars fininshed within a minute of each other. Maldonado risked losing points if he backed-off.

    Who knows?

I'm kinda with Javelin on this one, except I don't have cable. Hulu and Netflix for tv and movies, ESPN3 on Xbox for ALMS, but no way to catch F1 or NASCAR. Sure I can check live timing and scoring, but I would like to watch the races. At least I do have this thread for recaps.

Not the finish I expected from the practice sessions and the qualifying rounds.

Not dissatisfied except I'd have liked Vettel to have blown up an disintegrated into a million pieces right in front of the grandstand and a 10 million people, but other than that it was a very good race.
