Per, is this the NYG car you sold recently to buy the ACR version with no motor?

    http://lakeland.craigslist.org/cto/798195913.html

Picked-up this '95 Neon Sport Coupe a couple months ago, just seeing if anyone wants to throw me a good offer for it. The car was driven down here from Maryland and used by Grassroots Magazine. I've put over 1000 problem free miles on it and drive it nowhere without hesitation. I've just been using it as a daily driver and nothing more. I'm very familiar with these cars and can easily spot problems and fix fix them before they happen.

My asking price for the car is: $2500 More than most people want to pay, but it's worth alot to some people to have a rare car like this and it be pretty much flawless. I'm also open to trades, just let me know what you have. I'm really looking for a Mazda Miata, Toyota MR-2, another Neon etc. Just let me know if you're interested.

Features: Nitro yellow green paint (rare). Leather front & rear seats (rare). Factory front & rear sway bars. SOHC 16v engine. 3spd automatic transmission. Power locks & mirrors. Tilt steering wheel. A/C and power steering. Cruise control. Sport alloy rims. 139,xxx original miles. Aftermarket head unit. 100% stock except for a K&N filter.

If you have any serious questions or offers please feel free to call my cell at: (863) 838-8288 I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it, just throwing it out there to see if I get any good offers.

That's the car. He's been bragging about paying $450 and some parts on neons.org, and then trying to sell it for $2500: http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t=320849&highlight=

He's already toasted the motor too:

I realize he's putting a new one in, but Caveat Emptor!

What happened to "using it as a daily driver and nothing more."

I doubt he will ever move it at that price. Once he does the engine rebuild, I'm betting it will become a more permanent fixture with him; it takes a while for that gawd-awful color to grow on you, but it does (I know of what I speak).

In his defense, he does have a couple more Neons to drive.

He does say that he drives it nowhere without hesitation. Can't get anymore honest than that. :)

I actually agree with the price, if he sells it to a normal person for $600 or whatever who thinks its stupid to $1k to have the timing belt changed on a car that cost less than that, it will be scrapped within 2 years. Since they only made 1500 of them, it would be nice for the NYG cars to stay around longer than that.

I agree, but Neon folks tend to be notorious tightwads.

Yea, that's it. Meh, the engine that he gave me as a part of the deal had bent valves....

I keep wanting to comment on this, but as my mom always said, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

The NYG car was decent enough...not sure it's worth that dough. I'm just glad I found an ACR to play with. There's something about a factory-built homologation special that gets me going.

You would probably like the one my dad has even better. :) Its a NYg and an ACR. :) Its a plymouth too, so its like one of 15 made.

sure, that's the unicorn for Neon geeks.

I've been piddling along on the ACR. Waiting on cams and now it looks like I'm missing the right engine mount bracket for this DOHC motor. ahhh...disassembled project cars...

I'd give a certain body part for one, so I guess that makes me a geek as well as a dork.

Strangely enough, I'm cool with that..........

I almost bought one of those in about 1998. I still kick myself on those sleepless nights.
