  • March 22, 2009 2:32 p.m. 418NV None

I need a comprehensive list of four door cars that are available with decent "manual auto-transmissions". Whether it would be tiptronic, DSG or SMG and the like. Under $25K new or used, but under 4 years old.

This is to save me from having to go through having a car payment on a car I don't really like driving. My wifes!

Obviously, suggestions of cars on the sportier side are encouraged.

    Thanks.

Come home with a stick-shift Accord. Easiest clutch in the world, and you end up with a good chassis to boot.

Make your compromises and you'll get closer to what you want.

One year past your cut-off, but the first one that came to mind was the Chrysler 300M.

Ummm.... Why do you want a tiptronic? If it CAN shift on its own, it will. Meh.

    Chrysler 300M

    Some Subaru's have it

    Hyundai's

I thought this was pretty obvious?

    vw.com

4 Door GTI base options except tiptronic dsg transmission, new rings in @ $24,930 so I assume used could only be less than that.

Most "tiptronic" transmissions will just piss you off... the DSG will drop your jaw and make you question how much you love your 3rd pedal.

edit: personally I can't stand the looks but if it were the wifey's I would have an excuse to drive it. Also, some other VWs have the transmission.. the GLI (never heard of it before) seems to look better but it is like $1000 more

'05 Lexus IS300 w/E-Shift - tons around with slushboxes, not many with LSD, but they do exist. They should be under 22K for a decent example.

I have yet to drive one that works...

Toyota put a 6-speed one in the Sequoia though.

    Mazda 6

BMW 3-Series Steptronic - yes these do come with automatics

BMW 3-Series SMG was available on non-M models as well, although very rare and somewhat troublesome IIRC
