So, just for S&G, I wanted to see how fast the Snot Rocket (my SMF prepped Turbo Civic) was in the 1/4 mile. So I went to the strip on Friday. Had fun. Ended up with this run on street tires -

    R/t: .324
    60': 2.276
    330': 5.866
    1/8: 8.752
    mph:86.93
    1000': 11.226
    1/4: 13.316
    mph: 108.12

Pretty excited. Especially given the total lack of prep for the strip. It's an autox car 100%. 3* of camber, retarded stiff front end, etc. Bad for running the quarter.

I've got a pair of lightly used slicks on the way, to see if I can put it in the 12's. One of my buddies predicts that I get deep enough into the 12's that I'm inclined to putz with the suspension in an effort to put it into the 11's. I don't see it going that far, but you never know...

i see it going that far, and i like what i see.

you could throw pretty much any of your hoosiers on the front, crank the camber back to zero, drop the inflation down to about 13 psi (that's what was best on my PGT on 225/45-15 A6), and get into the 12s. on real drag tires, properly driven, i'm smelling low 12's without tuning engine or suspension.

Dave, what's your power numbers on that thing again?

Nope. I started on the 275 Hoosier A6's. They SUCKED on the strip. Sucked bad. It makes no sense that a 195 street tire would hook up that much better than a 275 race tire, but it did. Best run on the A6 was a 14.9. Bolting on the R1R's immediately got a 13.7, and then fine tuning the launch led to several 13.3's.

The A6 literally didn't catch until like 80 mph. The only gear I didn't have to pedal it was 4th. 1-3 it would light up. There's gotta be some kind of reaction happening between the A6 compound and all the stuff on the track, because they were abysmal.

typical et-mph calculators say that there is a high 12 in there somewhere. Nice work!

    108 mph isn't a low 12.. 12.6-7's or so ... still very impressive

Yeah, I don't see low 12's. High 12's will rule, mid will be a bonus.

So, what are the two most expensive words in racing? "What if?" or "I wonder...?"

    Have fun...

As in this case- "I wonder if I can make a reasonably good replica for $2012?"

That's a question that begs to be answered.

Never underestimate the launch-sucking ability of an insanely stiff sidewall. I'm not at all surprised the R 1R's did better. Borrow Wayne's slicks and run mid-high 12's.

Wayne sold them. But I've got a pair of 22x8x15 that should be here on Wednesday, and I've still got that other pair of 15 x 8 Axis Old Skools that seem like a good home for them.

well, it kinda makes sense. drag racing wants longitudinal contact patch, which your 275's don't have, even with low psi. my results were with 225's @ 13 psi on a car with probably 400# more front weight than yours.

Are you going to Commerce, GA. Friday night? Mid 12's should be easy!

That's the plan. Slicks should be here Wednesday. Hopefully the weather cooperates. Right now it's calling for 50's and dry - should be perfect.

    What did the s00p3rturd run?

    You in?

Think you can get whitey to go? My charm alone isn't enough...

12.9 @ 109. Only got 3 runs - not enough time to figure out how to launch slicks, but pretty stoked with the 12 second time slip.

Was gonna say, your 60' time was supa dupa high. What was your 60' time on the 12.9 ET run?

They say that every second you get off the 60 footer is worth two at the end. Looks like you just supported that theory.
