    I want to upgrade the headlights on my RX-7. Besides Silverstars, I am also considering one of these kits:

    Hella H6054 to H4 conversion kit

    Neolight H6054 to H4 conversion kit

    My current headlights are hella weak (ba-dum-TISH!). How well do these kits work? I'm not looking to do an HID conversion; I'd just like something brighter than stock. Also, some kits that are similar to the Hella kit advise using a heavy-duty wiring harness. Would that be a good decision, seeing as my RX-7's alternator only puts out 70amps tops?

    H6054: Sealed beam, 200mm (~8" ) by 142mm (~5.5").

    Have the hella kit here on a few vehicles I've owned. I'll highly recommend it.

    The 90A Escort alternator is a direct bolt on for the S5. S4's will have to swap the connector. Check out the rx7club forum for more info.

    The hella conversion with a good set of bulbs will give you the best lighting possible. The HID conversions are junk w/o a good set of housings.

    The Hella H4 kits are pretty sweet. I recommend the ECE lights, a lighting-nut buddy of mine got them for me for my Fiero and they were a huge improvement!

    Also, you can't go wrong with relays for the headlights...on some cars, it can make a huge improvement, especially if you're running 100W high beams or have an older car with tiny wires or a crummy switch.

    The heavy duty wiring harness with a pair of relays is a good idea on older cars which ran all of the current for the headlights through the dash switch. Depending on what bulbs you throw in the H4 housings, you can fairly easily exceed the current rating on the factory headlight switch without relays.

    As for the headlight conversion being worth it? Those hella housings are the E36 M3 for upgrading some old sealed beams. I threw a set of H4 and H1 housings in my E30 and couldnt be happier. I also reccomend the E-code housings over US ones. With the way the E-code beam kicks up to the right, street signs are much easier to read at night.

    Tons of more light on the road than the previous basic sylvanias. Much better spread and brighter. Took a while to align as they have a spot of light high to the right to illuminate signs, thought it should be centered.

    By mistake I ordered with the blue lightbulb but do like the whiter light so kept them. Seller was willing to just exchange the bulbs if I wanted. Shipping is pricey.

    He is North of Dallas so I could have driven over and saved part of the cost but gas was at $4/gallon so I ordered.

    The general consensus on the relays is that they are not needed but would make a difference. It is in my plans down the road.

    I ran some Autopal knockoffs of hella lights, E code, work pretty well..currenlty running em in my miata. Did upgrade the bulbs to Narva Azzurro weathervision type bulbs with a yellow dichrotic coating...I <3 em.
