I can purchase the seal from Pelican for about $100 then in add shipping and you are close to $125. By the foot this ends up being close to 9.00 / foot. Does anyone have a source for door / hatch seals? The only problem is making sure the configuration of the seal is correct but that should be a simple as looking at the one I have.
Given how big a pain in the butt those hatches are to deal with and how common there is for complaints over fumes in the cabin, I'd find the newest and latest 944 in the local yard and snag that seal (they added a bit more seal to it to help with the fumes) or buck up and buy the proper seal from Porsche/Pelican, etc.
I got lucky and nabbed some really good seals from an early 944 in the yard for the doors on my car.
If you're really going for the DIY dealio, then J.C. Whitney sells universal seals that you can request some samples of to determine if it will work for your needs before ordering a bunch.
Call Steele rubber components. We've had them make AMC stuff for us for decades. They'll be able to sell you the correct stuff by the foot instead of molded into the square.
I'd say check Autohaus Arizona, too (http://www.autohausaz.com). I got a good deal on some tail light and sunroof seals from them for my 911. Everything came in factory-looking packaging, too.
Here, see if this link helps: http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=lohvkx4545ene555vw0l4nvk&makeid=800019@Porsche&modelid=1263316@924%20S&year=1987&cid=13@Body,%20Trim%20%26%20Lighting&gid=1430@Weatherstripping/Moulding

That is a big help!!! Thanks David
That saves about $40. And ya I have been getting fumes in my car. Especially when I open a window. I took a carbon monoxide detector from my house and took it for a ride with me and when I would open the window it would set it off.
So for now until I can get a new seal I have it taped shut with black gorilla duct tape. I then tested with the detector and all was good.
The fix to that seems to be angling the exhaust tip to the corner of the car.

I'd vote for side exit exhaust myself.
The later 944 seals help, but ultimately it is the airflow at the back of the cars are just odd.
I just ordered it from Autohausaz and free shipping to boot!!!!! Thanks Again David!!!!

Ya we did this on the 280z that we raced and it helped alot. I have often thaught of just making a dump just in frount of the rear tire on the drivers side (oposite from where the filler nech is for the fuel.) The problem would be the noise as this would all but eliminate any muffler and having it rite by my window would be a bit of a problem
Re the fumes and the side windows. Since I taped up my hatch I get no fumes. Also if I over fill my oil or I forget to pressurise the accusump so there are 8 quarts in the pan and start it up I can actually see the smoke coming in between the hatch and the body of the car above the taillights. So although the writeup on the 924 board is very helpful in my car is is the rear hatch seal.

On my car, there's room for a decent sized round muffler behind the cat and you could add a resonator under the passenger footwell after the turn. Point the tip of the exhaust to the ground and the noise won't be as bad.
Worth a try at least. :)
I have a cat back for my car less the muffler. I could easily take the back half of my system off and see.

Yep, just clamp it together, tie it up with some bailing wire and go for a drive....
Thinking about it as It was going to be used for a rear mounted turbo but I think I am going supercharged now.
