Try to find a car lot with new cars and drive one with and without HID. You'll make your own decision quickly enough.

All else being equal, I'd take the car with HID. (Say, an E46 330i with vs without). But I'm just thinking that HID/not-HID soon gets crushed under the weight of other considerations.
