My son is away at college with my Chev Astro and he called and said it won't start. The underhood area was packed with blown snow ,so he cleaned it out as best he could. It will start, but dies in a couple of seconds. I'm suspecting that the air intake tract may be plugged with snow. Does anyone know where the inlet opening to the airbox is located? It's a 1996 with the 4.3. Thanks Warren

pop the front off the filter box (dead center with clips on it) and try starting if that works then you know it's a clogged snorkle... sold mine a while back but it looks like the snorlkes go to both sides...

see: http://www.astrosafari.com there are reports of snow shorting the coil, the control module (located near the rear of the intake manifold) , or possibly the crankshaft position sensor (located low on the front of the engine where it might get packed in driven snow).
