Who makes a decent high temp paint for cast iron manifolds? I bought a new turbo manifold for my challenge car and I’d like to avoid having it get all rusty.

I recently painted a header with VHT and it seems to be holding up fine.

Get the DuraCoat high temp gun barrel paint. It ain't cheap. The hotter it gets, the harder it gets. It's used on machine gun barrels that can get so hot they glow. I put some on Dr.Linda's Sportster's drag pipes. A little rubbed off after 2K miles of saddlebags rubbing on it, but the rest of it, including up by the heads where it gets hot, did fine.

I've used the VHT and Dupli-Color stuff loads of times, and it works fine. I think the VHT holds up a bit better.

The best , according to my opinion is PJ1 exhaust paint available at better real motorcycle shops.

A point to consider with all of these is that they're not done 'til they've been heat cycled. The first time you light the engine off they'll stink and smoke like hell. Once it stops they're good to go.

I've been using Zep and Krylons COLD GALVANIZING COMPOUND AEROSOL COATING . Zep last the longest but Krylon is easyer to find and at $7 for a can it still last over a year of racing at 12500rpm on the dwarf.

The stainless steel stuff from Eastwood works pretty well. http://www.eastwood.com/stainless-steel-high-temp-coating-kit.html

I've used the Eastwood SS stuff several times and it's held up very well on cast. I use 3 coats. I'm trying it on headers this time. One can is enough to do a couple sets of long V8 headers like these easily. Well see if it holds up as well as the VHT.

Anyone try the POR15 high temp stuff? I found a place locally that carries it. Looks like it should be similar to the Eastwood stuff but it’s around $18 for 8 oz.

Are any of these available in bling bling silver?

I would also accept gloss black.

Of course the low buck GRM method is to coat them with ATF & let it bake into a hard coat when you start it up ;)

Nother vote for VHT here, I used it on a header on the Cressida and it held up great, went to the crusher looking as good as the day I painted it.

hmm, I have some VHT in the garage that I used on a set of headers I sand blasted but after a few months they were all rusty again. I was going to look for something else but maybe i'll give the stuff another try.
