For nearly the entire race I ran in a group fighting over P7-10. It was basically nose to tail for a dozen laps, which is a real testament to how easy to drive those cars are. Like most spec racing, though, making a move on someone required an overt act that I simply wasn't willing to commit in someone else's $125k car.
Overall I drove a decent race. I made basically one mistake which resulted in me giving up a position on the last turn of the last lap, but it was a quality move by a patient guy behind me to spot the bobble and capitalize. I think my lap times were about two seconds off the winner and about 4th or 5th fastest overall, which I was pretty pleased with.
It's a heck of a series, though, and certainly a memorable experience. You'll be able to read the full story from behind the wheel in the next issue.

It's really interesting to hear you say that.....you said the same thing to me at the track that day. Your experience stands in stark contrast to Jeremy Clarkson comparing vipers to an unpredictable axe murderer.

Normally, that would not matter, since I most of us know that Clarkson's car reviews fall into the "entertainment" category and not the "informative" one. What annoys me, though is that the Creative Director of Turn 10 says that Clarkson will "tell you how to feel about the car". (8:00) People should form their own opinions, not digest the opinions of others.

On street tires, with no aero, I can definitely see that car being a handful. There's only so much force that a street tire can take, regardless of the width. Some suspension tweaks, and slicks as wide as the horizon can tame a lot of wild horses, though. I really was expecting to be intimidate by the horsepower, but there's just so much mechanical grip available that the chassis approaches the engine in terms of capability.
