Flat six, light body. Will you get rear ended on a 55 mph highway?

Probably. My father-in-law's 30 Chevy 6 cylinder is screaming at 45 MPH, but has a theoretical top speed of 55-60, I think. At that speed, the generator is also overcharging the battery - the end result was not good.

I would imagine one in good condition will go 55 on the highway, but it probably won't be very happy doing it for very long - per the site below they had a 4.33 rear axle ratio. On the plus side, they had hydraulic brakes so you may able to stop the car. ;)

A guy I used to work with had a '34 Plymouth coupe. He said it would cruise comfortably at 45 all day long. I think his might have had an overdrive of some sort. He usually stuck to back roads when he was out and about in it.

It will accelerate at 9.8 m/s^2 and if you drop it from high enough it will 200+ before terminal velocity.

I do know of a 1939 P8 that went a little over 100, but the flattey was still at the house

My buddy's 39 did 55+ but it was very, very unhappy about it.

The '33 in question has larger diameter I-H wooden wheels out back, maybe more top end but less grunt off the line.

The better question would be "who has the cajones to drive it @55".
