I've seen cars come off lifts, and seen lifts fail.
We used stacked wooden blocks to hold aircraft carriers up. Never dropped one. Always found them quite stable.
Invite vendors into threads as you wish, it's your forum. But do understand that the safety you wished to invoke is proven less than what was already provided.

I suppose you could deforest your neighborhood to lift a car.
I'd rather use a metal lift. I know cars can fall off of them, but I think that's a function of Darwin, not the material or technology in use. I've used dozens, maybe hundreds of lifts in different shops and never even had a close call. (Although I did poke an antenna hole in a ceiling once.)
Comparing it to an aircraft carrier is tough. Maybe if my car were so big that a suitable lift didn't exist, I'd be with you.
If ya can't tell the difference between wooden blocks or timbers and a skid, you shouldn't play with power tools.
Biggest thing I never liked about that guys ramps from years ago was the height to width ratio. Kinda right up there beside steel jack stands run up way high.

OTC makes some killer jackstands for working on heavy equipment that go about 48" high. Everyone should have a pair!

that OTC sticker adds about a 110% premium on top of those same stands bought with a different sticker on them..
