EX with a ZC SOHC VTEC motor swapped in (supposedly low miles but I am think I believe the PO considering the other cars he owned). BMW bottlecaps with fairly new Bridgestone Potenza ultra high performance all seasons. Cold air intake and header. Kicker front speakers, off brand rear speakers, amp and sub. Things that are wrong with it. Needs a new sub box, transmission has a small leak, paint is peeling badly on the rear bumper. It also needs a new air filter and driver's side turn signal but I am going to fix those soon.

If the Civic is just daily transportation and that's all, then leave it boring. It's good to own a car that you don't f with, and hopefully don't really want to f with. I've got an '02 Impala for that... I don't f with it so much that I think it's been a year since I changed the oil in spite of putting 20k miles on it.

I am not surprised that you are bored when you bought an economy car. You had a civic before this one as well if IIRC. Without a motor swap or turbo its going to be boring in a straight line. Either focus on some suspension tweaking or save up and put a hot motor in the El Camino / Ranchero or whatever you end up with.

+1 on have a good reliable daily driver.

Yeah I guess after owning Civics all my driving life, I am just kinda bored with them. If I could combine the things I liked about my two Civics I might be happy. I am going to hang on to it until at least the summer of next year and see how I feel then.

And if you spend money and time on it, it will still be a Civic and you'll probably get just as bored with it.

Keep one completely stock and reliable DD no matter what. F1 drivers drive boring little hatchbacks, my Dad, who drives a 700HP drag car, DDs a 4 cylinder 98 Sonoma. Have one fun car (or more) and one normal boring stock car.

Just re-iterating. I'll leave you alone now.

HAHA, same here. My toy is a stock S2000 that runs perfect all the time, and the supposed DD is an E36 with a bunch of suspension mods that requires constant attention.

I wish I would listen to them (been contemplating it). Unfortunately my "toy" car is the 06 S2000 with zero reliability issues. The "boring" car/DD is a modded 94 Saturn wagon that I am frequently tinkering with. Hopefully it will be fully sorted shortly (recovering from some rear-end damage from a taxi at the moment).

I'm trying to recover from this too. My "toy" is an 07 350Z and I just sold my DD 96 BMW which was a nightmare.

Surprisingly, my wife wants me to keep the Z even if I'll have to take out a loan to get something reliable enough to be called an appliance.

I've had various Hondas since the beginning of my driving career. In the last several months I've considered going with something else for daily driving. I am having great difficulty with the thought of giving up excellent reliability, great gas mileage, excellent handling, good levels of comfort, practicality, and cheap parts/maintenance.
