I'm grabbing this bad boy as soon as we sell the Saturn.

First year 944. Runs great, recent major services, no rust, drives like a damn top!

You will crap bricks when I tell you how much I paid for it.

    How much? Manual Steering?

  • Maroon92

    Feb. 1, 2012 9:43 p.m. Maroon92 SuperDork

Yep, arm and hammer steering FTW. I need some upper body workouts anyway!

1500 bones are heading his way in exchange for this beauty.

(The only downsides are a non-functional clock, a tear in the driver seat, and the driver side front bumper shock is collapsed...perfect time to collapse the other one for a "bumper tuck")

People are asking more for non-running examples. Seems like a good deal. Are the pictures flattering it or is clear coat actually still good?

Clear coat is good on everything but the sunroof, and a couple of hours of paint correction will have this thing looking amazing. The rock guards need to come off though.

The cheapest one within a hundred miles of me is at least 4 grand. Everyone in Ohio thinks the 944 is an unattainable supercar...

I think DukeOfUndersteer might end up with it, but just in case he finds something else...

It's a 99 SL2 Automatic with 140ish thousand miles. It's on it's second transmission, but this one seems to be working great. Engine runs great, it's never left us stranded. It's full of dog hair right now, but I would give it a good detail before I sold it.

1500 bucks (pretty firm, but may be open to some cool trades or negotiation tactics)...

Everyone in the Philly area seams to have just raped them with extreme prejudice. They still want 2 grand for utterly ruined cars though.

Congrats on actually finding a good buy on one.

Forgot to mention that it just had an alignment last month when I installed the snow tires. It needs an oil change soon, but that is something I would do before I sold it as well. (this is about the Saturn...)

Wow, nice find. Where I live, $6.5K is absolute bottom dollar 944 money. $1500 would get me into a ropey 924 .

Is this to be your daily drive?

I'll probably daily-ish it in the spring through the fall, but I have the motorbike and the Mazda 3 to tote me around also. (And on days that I am feeling particularly luxurious, we also have SWMBO's new-to-her Lincoln Town Car.)

I snagged it from a co-worker here in Wadsworth. His dad has been driving it on and off for a while, but otherwise, it's been stored for that time.

Go Here>>>> http://www.clarks-garage.com/index.htm The shop manual will be your friend (tab on left side of page)

If you need anything (used parts) let me know I have a good supply / source. I also can give you tips / places I have learned over the years when purchasing new. P car parts are not really expensive as long as you know where to get them. Comparative shopping is key to keeping your parts bill in check..

Get to know pelican parts also the board over there is much more active than clarks but the knowledge base on clark's is excellent. I am an admin over at Clarks (I am dean924s over there). If you want to join up send clark a email. All applications have to be personally approved by him. (keeps the spam bots away)

Have fun!!! Make sure you drive it a lot. P cars hate to be parked and looked at. Every time my car site mare than a couple days it seems to brake something to get attention.

Unfortunately, Pelican Parts is one of my main competitors! Besides, their website is just plain painful to use.

In all seriousness, I like Wayne, he is a good guy, and he has done a lot for the community. His books are top notch.

It will certainly get driven. I likely won't do much to improve power, but the suspension and braking departments are getting seriously addressed... immediately.

The 2nd key hole behind the driver side door always cracked me up on those. It's how you arm the alarm!

Yep, and the alarm key is always lost, and the alarms never work.

So, now that I'm awake, what options does it have? Color (looks like mine!)? Interior? Miles? What are your plans?

I have not done a VIN search on it yet. I'll get it looked up when I officially take ownership later this month. Standard seats with vinyl. Cracked dash. Frayed seat belt.

Fortunately, the editor of 9 said he had a spare set of cookie cutters for me to mount slicks on, and a harness bar, so I can get rid of the scary seat belts.

I haven't really looked at the paint code, but I think it is LY7Y ZermattSilber Metallic.

    I could be wrong though.

I say you should mount snow tires on those cookie cutters and come rallycross.

We had a 944 on summer tires come to one event last season. It looked like he could have done quite well with some traction.

You know, I have a set of Falken rally tires at my parent's house...
