About a month ago, I realized that I could no longer keep track of the fleet's oil change intervals in my head. I was also craving a little more garage space. For the first time in my life, I wanted to own fewer cars, not more.

Today, I sold my WRX. I owned it for almost eight years and loved it to death, but it was time.

    I am surprisingly happy.

Congrats on the sale, I recently went down from 4 vehicles to 3 and haven't regretted it.

My appetite for owning cars is only limited by the number of friends i can get to hang out with me while i work on them. Right now i only have 2 friends who like to hang out while working on cars.. And since i cant expect them to show up more than once or twice a week, there are several days out of the week noone will keep me company. Those are the times i feel like i have too many car projects going on.

My appetite for cars is completely dependent on the types of driving that I do on at least a semi-regular basis. I just want the car to perfectly match the drive, whether that's a freeway cruiser, a windy mountain road commute, or just picking up groceries.

Right now, I live close enough to work that I don't have to commute, and it's put a serious damper on my car cravings. All I really need is my long-haul cruiser and my AX car. And, if I wasn't so emotionally attached to the latter, I'd be perfectly happy rolling those two into one.

I just sold my 1996 cobra a few days ago which I owned since it had 15k miles and was bone-stock.

I miss is dearly, but wow it's great to only have one car; have maintenance costs for only one car, and most impotently not seeing the second car sitting outside under a cover unused 99% of the time etc...

I sort of crave less cars myself, but sadly, I have a hard time getting rid of them, considering the deals I got on some, and the time/money I have into the rest. The MINI is the only one i'd be comfortable losing, but we're better off totalling that pig.

I write the date, and mileage on the oil filter every time I change the oil in one of my cars/trucks. There's no way I can remember all the numbers. The bikes on the other hand....

At least most of them are 2 strokes, and see only ocassional action.

I recently went from 5 cars down to 3. It's sort of a nice feeling.
Now I only have 3 cars that need small fixes & maintenance.

Change the oil at 13,xxx, 16xxx, 19xxx, 23,xxx, and so on. Every car, everytime, easy-peasy.

Well actually the Subaru gets high-quality synthetic at 15,xxx, 20,xxx etc.

A white board in the garage helps me on this.

I use Google Docs: a maintenance spreadsheet for each car.

That said, I too have been reducing my car count (and getting slightly nicer cars as a result). It feels right.
