if i remember right its a fiat design also built by suzuki, i wonder if a fiat was any performance upgrades.

they are certainly neat little cars, and I prefer the looks of the crossover to the sedan and the sportback, but that's just me, I like small (aka hot-hatch sized) hatchbacks, especially when they come with AWD as an option. of course, given the choice between the SX4 and my Mini R53, I'd pick Sparky every day of the week, but then again it IS a mini...

Local dealer has TONS of AWD/6spd SX4s, at $14k. And the AWD is selectable, 2/4/4lock. Makes me wonder (1) what is the best "off road" tire it can take and (2) how capable would it be with said tire and in 4lock?

I seriously considered an SX4 Crossover for my daughter - it was a nice car, definitely, and fun to drive. Wound up with a 70,000 mile 2002 Impreza wagon for half the price, but the Suzuki was very tempting.
