If I didn't have a car lease I'd likely investigate this more. I love these. Anyone have any experience with these? (Volvo 780 Bertone). No reserve and the bidding is at $600.00.

Body parts are really hard to find and it is in a book I have of the world's worst cars. So I am thinking you should stay away but the mechanical stuff is all standard Volvo.

Id drive it, I dont think id really go looking for one though. Id rather have a Mercedes 300E or Alfa 164 if I wanted a car like that.

I can't imagine why it would be one of the world's worse cars, unless it's something that the Italian involvement does to a fairly straight-forward Swedish car.

I think these cars are kind of decent looking (someone in Memphis has/had one), but because of the sheetmetal parts being so scarce, I'd probably buy a Turbo Coupe before I popped for one of these. Wouldn't buy this without a VERY CLOSE relationship with a Volvo dealer and/or parts, service provider.

Rust was the big reason. And they aren't very good looking.

Curious, it says NYC but that is not a NYS inspection sticker unless NYC use something different and no registration sticker.

The wheels alone are damned near worth the $710 asking price.

Factory optoin 16x7 Geminis. Sexy wheel.

Those wheels are factory options? They look like aftermarket to me. As far as that World's Worst Cars book I don't agree with all the cars in it. But I would be a bit worried because the bodywork done in Italy I have heard rust.

    Yup. Factory options.

Gemini (P/N #1394623-1) 16x7 18.5 lbs 20 mm 240/740 optional, looks like old Momo 5 spoke, weight with center cap

    Big daddy:

Volvo Polaris, 17x7 with a good amount of dish. I think 1991 was the first year for them.

Good spot. Jersey plates and a Jersey inspection sticker. It's a Queens phone number.

Taillight assemblies alone were $900 each a few years ago. Few, if any of the body and trim parts interchange with any other Volvo. The mechanicals are the same.

If you're thinking of the same book I am, the MGB and the Mercedes 300D are both in it as well, and I own both of those, so that shows what I think of that particular brand of automotive "writing". The x1/9 is in there, too. The guy that wrote it is a tool. Probably drives a mid 80's Chrysler New Yorker, white with a red interior. Just sayin'.

No it doesn't have those cars in it but it does have the TR7 which was my main disagreement.

I believe I have the same book. The volvo coupe included is the 242 (I believe, it was 2X2 something or other, maybe 262) and the reason for its inclusion is the styling. It did have a fantastic 70s vinyle roof cover, so it didn't look quite so good. That book does indeed flame on the MGB as a pile of crap. It includes several other cars that are well regarded around this board.

Chop tops don't suit Volvos. That is one ugly car.
