I had a Hornet Sportabout as a youngster. Your taste in vehicles is impeccable.

WHEN the carb goes to crap, which will be soon, it seems like a prime candidate for a megasquirt conversion.

I got to ride in the mighty concord this past weekend. While it may not do a burnout on pavement it certainly managed one a nice one wheel peel in my front yard.

The thing does drive and ride very smooth. Interior is in great shape for its age as well.

Um....yeah Greg, please apologize to your wife for that lawnjob......you did ask for it though!

So I spent a good part of this weekend de-funkifying the Concord's interior.... and it was plenty funky! I shot the seats, and door panels with the Oil Eater Orange Cleaner and they came out looking nearly brand new! Amazing what taking off a layer of crud and mold will do! It is so blue in there it's like a smurf blew up.

So after I cleaned the rear seat into like-new condition I lifted the lock and put the seat down into it's flat position. Then I look and there is a GIANT freeking spider looking right at me, near the crack that separates the base of the seat to the cargo floor. This monster was so big at first I thought Tarantula! They I realized there are no Tarantulas in FL, but man was he huge! Before I could get my camera he slinked off into the crack of the seat. I pounded, lifted up the carpet, and had a long conversation with Mr. Spider about how his living arrangements were not such a good idea and to avoid death he'll need to vacate. I'm hoping he took me seriously. I think a poison bomb is in order.

Till then I'm checking the car VERY closely before getting inside!

After a bit of research I found out he's a very large Wolf spider. Non-poisonus, non-agressive, but still damn creepy!

I'll post pics if he makes another appearance! Besides the arachnophobia the car is doing great! Amazingly smooth runner!

Oh, and it doesn't have a cassette or 8-track, just the factory AM/ FM radio which still works like a charm!

You need to find an 8-track player for that car.

Maybe a CB radio. But not an 8-track. They were almost dead by '81.
