    So I have my 4/5/6th 240sx. It was a nice looking '91 runs great drives ok.

    Used to look like that. Nice straight, decent paint, ran fantastic.

    Then I tapped a wall at columbus motor speed way. Perfectly, just a little rear bumper scrape.

    Sunday, I did it again, though too aggressively and ended up like this:

    And Id like to fix it, because I hate seeing 240sx (or any non mainstream appliance car) go to waste.

    But then theres this:

    So yeah its REALLY rusty, but it drives nice enough, and its a 240K Michigan car. My goal with this car was just to drive it through the winter and get another 240sx in the spring thats less rusty. I suppose the over all goal is to drive an s13 every winter thats slightly nicer then this one, but this ones bad.

    I'm thinking of just patching up, and replacing the front body panals. Were slowing down at work, and this car runs great, aka Im broke. I do have a SOOOPER clean s13 hatch im building so its not like I wont have a 240sx for the 3 seasons next year.

    So bascially I'm pretty broke till work picks up (although my mom is buying my 95 maxima...) and the car runs. Just looks like E36 M3, and almost not worth fixing. But all i need to do is make it sealed enough to resist salt and slush i suppose.

    Oh GRM why cant we win the lottery and split it? 5-10K each would be awesome....

    Looks like just a fender and maybe a front bumper? Fender should be ~$30-40, and the bumper can get by with paint. I say keep it, practice some beginner's body work and enjoy the car!

    As for the rust, I'd start by treating what's there as best you can - I don't have any experience with the paint-on rust prevention, but that or POR15 would probably at least stop the problem.

    fender, drive for winter, use for parts in the spring.

    Brian- the problem is its a POS. Not worth a lot effort. But yes, some is warranted. oh and you dont want the coils, they are 10K miles old and failing. When I was trying to put on the modded knuckles I was hammering on them, and after that, and the wall tap, the passegener side has a good amount of play in the actual coil over shaft-to body area. Drivers side too, but not as much.

    Flightservice-As for the rotors, half of the problem (when I put my modified knuckles on) came from 1 bolt on each of the caliper brackets were broken off. And I didn't know till I went to take them off to put on my Q45 brakes. The Q brakes are almost twice the width, and an inch or so bigger.

    speedblind-The Bumper is over all ok, but some mouting brackets might be fubard, but the bumper support its self is bent and most of the problem. I have like 3 hoods, that one is bent and sperated from the support. The drivers side fender is ok. The main problem is the whole front is shifted over so I'm not sure where I need to pull it.

    I donno, I can wait and find a slightly nice shell with a blown motor pretty easy. and then just part out and scrap this shell. My wallet says use some scraps to cover the rust, and seam seal what needs it to keep the water out.

    I dont think its a good idea to put my 300WHP RB20 in this shell like I intended either....

    But super steering angle knuckles and an RB20 in the winter would be insanely fun.....

    I would just drop a fender on it, prep for winter.. and come spring, scrap it. No sense in subjecting a good car to bad weather

    well I am still calling dibs on the trunk lid! my s13 isn't too bad. I have a new OE rail for the drivers side and the rest is minor crap other than a fuel leak and the trunk lid having spoiler holes.

    find an el cheapo winter beater and search for a better shell. I have seen several shells pop up around here for relatively cheap.
