Is it bad that I want it? Dual gas tanks! Double the zombie-steamrolling miles between siphoning gas from abandoned cars! Mrs. Twin_Cam gave me a glare to end all glares when I showed this to her and said "I want it."

Dual gas tanks? Ive got um. 300 miles is as far as that will get you. You could go with any other truck with double the tank size. Their good trucks. 12 mpg maximum. I love my f150. 200,000+ and she still runs great, not that I haven't done work.

Maybe I missed it, but what engine does it have?

and in case you didn't get it the first couple times, it doesn't come with a radio. Even though a radio isn't shown in the pics anyways....

2 gas tanks? what's so special about that? every Ford and GM truck from the mid 70's to the late 80's has 2 gas tanks..

my 81 Ford F250 had about a 450 mile range with both tanks. i thought that was pretty ok for a 5000 pound truck with a 351M under the hood.. if i had the second tank on my 79 Chevy 3/4 ton chassis with a 87 GMC body, i think i'd get around 400 miles..

Thats impressive. What kind of mileage were you getting? Or it may have had larger tanks than mine. Mine holds around 32 gallons total.

Dual tanks isn't all that special, but to say that "every Ford and GM truck from the mid 70's to the late 80's has 2 gas tanks.. " would be incorrect.

However, it would be correct to say that every GM and Ford full size truck built from 73 to about 87 could be ordered with dual gas tanks.

Of course, the GM trucks had one filler on both sides, making it one of the most irritating designs in the history of gas jockeys.

That's not a bug, that's a feature - you park in the middle of the station between two pumps and fill the left tank from one pump and the right tank from the other.

I agree that does look surprisingly rust-free for a PA truck.

    The engine is probably a 302, maybe a 351W.

My old (E150) conversion van (5.0 EFI w/ AOD) would go around 420 miles on both tanks, mostly highway.

I get the same look from my other half when I look at trucks from that era... which is why I bought the truck she liked... and why it currently sits in HER driveway... she doesn't like it so much now...

Thanks. I knew it was wrong because swipe couldn't figure out what I was typing. Spelling isn't my bag. I admit that time and time again.

Datsun, yes. Most good trucks are a little rough around the edges no matter what you use them for.

Ya know, I did a statewide craigslist search just yesterday for any Ford vehicle between $200 and $1000, and I was astounded at the number of very usable late 70's, early 80's F150s that came up. I saw one nice, 1 owner 302 truck, a decent 460 Auto, and a rough bodied but good running 429 Auto - all for well under a grand. Also an extended cab (!!) model with a 351 that has to be gone by the weekend with an $800 price point.

Lets see, buy the extended cab and the 460 truck, combine.......

I'm gonna hafta have me one sooner or later. i miss the old truck I had.

This truck reminds me of the awesome story “The Appropriation of Cultures,” where a young black man buys a truck with a confederate flag in the back window. The seller tells him the decal will peel right off, but the guy says he likes it. He ends up referring to it as the "black power flag." It makes people really uncomfortable. Over time he has some really hilarious and occasionally tense interactions with people. It ends up causing people in the town to start taking their confederate flags down and hiding them. I wish it was so simple.

Precisely what I'd use it for. Although I don't have to plow my driveway, it's short and the landlord does that.

I'm thinking brush guard, snorkel, maybe skidplates, and then all kinds of off-roading fun, as well as pull-any-stuck-cars-out-of-the-snow fun. As well as hauling stuff instead of borrowing a truck from work all the time.

And, no, I don't want it just for the flag. I would totally tell the owner "Hells yea I want the flag, shoot!" And then promptly get rid of it once I was out of sight.

i don't recall ever seeing one that didn't have dual tanks. maybe some 2wd short box trucks would only have a single tank, but those have always been extremely rare around this part of the country. 4X4 long box has always been the standard configuration for that body style- with a few of the oddball long box stepside trucks still running around..
