I've gone and done the unthinkable - I've bought a Boxster S to replace my 1984 911 Targa. (No regrets, I LOVE the Boxster S!)
My question is this: does it violate any GRM message board rules to post the link to my auction? Clearly I would be trying to increase traffic to my eBay auction and, hopefully, increase the chances that I might sell the 911.

You do know that the fix for that speedo is a $25 plastic gear and 30 minutes of your time, right? If its only been 25 miles or so... just fix it because otherwise it just reads like "The speedo has been broken for about 300k miles, seriously, just lowball me all day long".

Below is for the 964/993 but I've done it to old BMW and Porsche VDO units because they all have the same basic flaw - the little gears melt over time. It will be a similar process as the link below describes. Very easy once you get the bezel off w/o gouging it up.

Damn, Walter. That could be handy. Esprits came with VDO speedos which all fail at 50K miles. I replaced mine with a Dakota Digital. I would have considered fixing it if I could get parts. However, it is really nice to know if you're going 79 or 81 when the V1 goes off, something the VDO will never do. The 2MPH difference comes out to like two bills these days.
