In a former life as a sales / counter guy at a chain of tire & service stores here in the USA, it was sometimes surprising how many people did not know what kind of car they drove. Sometimes the year would be off and it would be a major issue getting the information corrected (ex: 1986 Olds 88 is much different from 1985 model).

But my favorite was when a customer came in and was adamant that he owned a 1987 Buick Oldsmobile. "It's a BUICK OLDSMOBILE, I'm TELLING YOU, that is WHAT IT IS". Customer then threatens to waste time by digging through the pile of trash in the passenger seat floor area for the title, I figure out what it is by walking out and looking at it for a few seconds.

Still kept him calm enough to buy two tires for his 1984 Olds 98 Regency, the key being verbally agreeing that Buick built all Oldsmobile cars in 1987 like he was telling me they did.

Gotta love that cold AC/heat. Maybe that's what's wrong with my DD's?!? The AC is cold, but the heat is hot!

Seen similiar. In-between lifes years ago, I worked at a chain auto parts store. We had a lady insist the she had a 6 cylinder V8. That's what her mechanic told her it was and if we didn't know what that was she was taking her business elsewhere. Just so happens that year/make car had 3 engine options - 4-cyl, V6 & V8. We held the door open for her and gave her directions to the rival store.
I do know people that can only tell you the color and amount of doors on their car. Make is of no difference.

So, do you drive a Ford or a Honda?

    Yes.

I'm not gay, but my boyfriend is.

Near Syracuse I worked at Sears auto while in college. Nearby by was Regal Buick/Hyundai. Yeah, guess the problems we had with folks trying to tell me what kind of car they drove.

I also like, "I have a Toyota Scion." Really, "which one?"
