You could have points removed from your license based on how many other cars you hit.

With gas prices being what they are now, I've started driving like an old man. I don't get much over 60,

I don't get it. You slow down to save, what? 5 percent on your fuel bills? Nothing personal, but skip the Starbucks and you'll save more!

    Big picture:

If a million people slowed down, that 5% suddenly becomes a LOT of fuel saved.

I'm not saying "lower the speed limit"--however, I've slowed to 65-67 willingly and it's no big deal. I'm doingmy part to stick it to the man. For me, it has very little to do w/ saving $2.

I dont really enjoy driving 90 mph on the freeway, I dont think the speedlimit needs to be lowered, but it would be nice to be able to drive 70 mph in the middle lane and not constantly get passed (in california, the slow lane is usually in such bad shape from all the trucks that your car is constantly bouncing off the bump stops if you try to drive there).

The worst thing to me is when you try to pass someone on a two-lane road, in a passing lane, and then they want to race.

I tried to pass an old man that had been driving 25-30 in a 45. I had my wife and daughter with me and wasn't in a hurry, but I couldn't tolerate 25mph forever. I followed him for 5 miles, at a polite distance, until I got to a passing zone. At that point, I signaled and started my pass at a rational speed, just so I wouldn't startle him. He floored it as soon as I was door-to-door. To top it off, he was unsteady at 60mph, came into my lane, and forced me to put two wheels off. The shoulder was steep and it could have been bad.

Later on that same trip, I almost got in a head-on collision with someone coming the WRONG WAY down a cloverleaf.

    Lessons learned:

Some people are idiots. Old idiots don't age gracefully. Drive in two modes: defensive or offensive.
Always pass with gusto....flat out....as fast as possible.

Amen. Out and back in ASAP. Pray there are no cops and that the passee doesn't have more hp when he realizes he's getting passed.

If you didn't have the wife and kid in the car, I'd think the urge to brake check him into next week might be irresistable.

i've done it, and it is very satisfying when you see the hood drop to the ground and hear the abs working the tires because some lady thought because her car is more expensive, she's more important.
