The old one apparently wasn't too good? I have never seen one win anything, except for Chris Rado's over engineered dual winged beast.

I am considering looking into one as a DD.
Looks like a Camry and a 300C berkeleyed.
To me it looks more like a cross between the current Accord coupe and the current Camaro.
I like the look of the old one more.
Meh.... It will work well enough for consumers who buy stylish appliances.
If Toyota has any real intent to revive distant memories and offer performance-oriented product, don't look to Scion as the flag carrier with this model.
Well it definitely needed way more power! They scrimp on the drivetrain in the Scion line and charge you extra to get less.
They're right on time with this nonsense but the FT86 won't be seen until 2013?
I'm with the guys making (new) Camaro jokes on this one. I'm so tired of the high doorsills & short roof that I could stay in econoboxes (or 20yr old cars) forever. If I want windows that small, I'll chop the top..and never use it as a DD.
Of course, my opinion could be biased by the fact that I'm DDing one of the Corrados right now, and I'm pretty tired of not being able to see out of the back of the damn thing in Atl. traffic..

Looks very much like the current car...no surprise, since Toyota is about THE most conservative car manufacturer on the planet.
You are right, the current car doesn't handle and can't be "upgraded" to handle with the aftermarket parts that are available. Think of it as a slightly narrower, 2 door Camry Solara...though it's actually built on the platform of a different Euro market 4 door sedan.
So it's more powerful? Big deal, look at most of the current Toyotas, in particular the Scions xa and xd...both got more powerful engines their last re-style, but both got SIGNIFICANTLY HEAVIER, too, so the added power isn't really felt all that much.
I think it looks good. I expect that it is heavier and softer than I would find appealing though.

I watched that race within the last few weeks and the cars looked reasonably "quick" and robust.
Then again a ton of TRD parts and money can make many a Toyota into something of an enthusiast's car.
