Personally, I reduced a 64 VW Bug into pieces small enough to be tossed into a dumpster, as well as the shells of an AE86 and an MGB after they gave their all for a Locost project.

Professionally, I've cut up countless cars, either training or at accident scenes (firefighter).

Needless to say many have passed on under my care some voluntarily others went screaming and kicking and others tried to write me off.

I've writtten off fuel, maintenance, repairs, etc. on fleet vehicles for my locksmith shop, but never an entire vehicle. "Wrote off" is not the phrase you were looking for. Most people know about as much about "writing an expense off" as Kramer does.

I have wrecked a couple, but insurance paid off most of the cost, not counting deductible. That does not count as writing one off (In a business situation, you likely could write off the deductible).

The closest I've come to what (I thik) you're talking about is when my father and I drove 800 miles to an auction in Auburn, Indiana. He bought a cherry '67 Continental (Powder Blue, White 'vert top, dark blue leather interior, suicide doors, etc.). I drove it from Auburn back to Macon whithout tearing it up (there were other, uh.. issues, but that's a story unto itself). During the trip back, it developed an exhaust leak, and dad didn't want to drive it like that, so I put it in the muffler shop. When it was repaired, I took dad to get it, and he drove it for about 4 miles before the throttle stuck. Dad ended up putting it in a ditch (he rode it out like a trooper, no serious injuries). Bent the frame.. oops!

He paid about 13 grand for the car. I drove the car 800 miles, he drove it 4. At least Hagerty paid off most of it.

Once had a '64 Beetle chopper that I neglected enough to run a quart low on oil. In a '64 Beetle, 1 quart missing = half empty. Needless to say, it locked up solid. Rather than scrap it, we pulled the seats and one door, covered the floor with hay, and put it in the back feild as a doghouse.

Voila! $300 doghouse. The mutts loved it!

I don't know. The jury's still out on this guy.

He's from Canada, but he's almost in the thumb of the mitten. We gotta give him some credit on that (one or the other).

But in only 31 posts he's managed to cover minivan racing, how to write off stolen or destroyed cars, Zombies, seriously modding a Fiat 500, dumping a 426 Hemi in an Olds Cutlass, and suggested an Allison V-12 in an Aveo.

Plus, he seems pretty intent on dumping 6 large into heavily modding a 2000 Echo. With all the deranged automotive psychotics on this board, I've never heard anything like it.

He's either completely whacked or a god among mere mortals. Is he a nutjub or the most sinisterly evil spammer ever to venture into the inner sanctum of grassroots goodness? Does he set a new benchmark in quirky automotive schizophrenia or is he going to rob us blind and naked with a scheme to power P71's with glazed jelly donuts? I'm going to wait and see.

One thing is for certain- CarKid has met his match.

Hold on there. He asked what was the biggest motor that could be suffed into an Aveo. It was I who suggested the Allison V-12....

    Just sayin'...
